How To Apply Indian Coast Guard For 140 Post Eligibility Criteria

General Duty (GD) Educational Qualification

  • (i) Should hold a degree from a recognised university.
  • (ii) Mathematics and Physics as subject upto Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent. The candidates who have completed graduation after diploma, are also eligible, provided they should possess a diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum

Age (Born Between)

  1. 21-25 years as on 01 Jul 2025 i.e. born between 01 Jul 2000 & 30 Jun 2004 (Both dates inclusive)
  2. (05 Years relaxation for personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army/Navy/Air Force)

Technical (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics) Educational Qualification

(i) Should hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace.

OR

Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognised by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination

(ii) Should hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics.

OR

Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognised by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE).

(iii) Mathematics and Physics as subject upto intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent. The candidates who have completed graduation after diploma, are also eligible, provided they should possess an diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum.

ICG Selection Process

The selection of Assistant Commandants will be based on the Coast Guard Common Admission Test, Preliminary Selection Board, Final Selection Board, Medical Examination, and Induction. The last date of induction at INA will tentatively be December 27, 2025. The exact date will be mentioned in the Appointment letter. No further induction will be undertaken after December 31, 2025, under any circumstance.

How to Apply

Applications will be accepted only ‘ONLINE’ from 05 Dec 2024 (1100 Hrs) to 24 Dec 2024 (1730 Hrs). The candidates are to login to https://joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in and follow the instructions for registering with e-mail ID/mobile number. The candidates are to ensure validity of e-mail and mobile number at least up to 31 Dec 2025.

Multi options entry scheme: Candidates who fulfill eligibility criteria for both General Duty branch and Technical branches as mentioned in Para ‘2’ may apply for both the branches indicating Option-I and Option-II. During processing of Stage-I result and shortlisting for Stage-II (PSB),

candidates will be considered only in the branch of their first preference. Consideration of second preference will be effective only at the time of preparation of final merit list as explained in Para ‘14’. Further explanation regarding multi options

Compulsory documents to be uploaded by all candidates during initial online application for Stage-I.

  • Passport size recent colour photograph taken not before June 2024
  • Live Image Capture during Registration –
  • Candidate’s scanned signature image.
  • Scanned clear Left and Right Thumb impressions image
  • Date of Birth certificate: 10th class mark sheet or Birth Certificate (in English or Hindi).
  • Identity proof: Aadhar Card or Voter ID or Passport or PAN Card or Driving License.
  • Service Certificate/NOC, if candidate is serving ICG Personnel including civilian/Armed Force Personnel/Govt. Employee.
  • Vigilance certificate to be signed by CO in respect of Armed force personnel/CAPF and by HoD i.r.o other Govt. employees.
  • Domicile Certificate to be uploaded only by candidates availing height relaxation in accordance with Central Govt. regulations.
